Abstract

|
A case of Sea-blue histiocytosis in bone marrow of a 22-year old male with valvular
heart disease and thrombocytopenia is presented.
The patient wag admitted to the Seoul National University Hospital for further
evaluation of his heart problem and to receive open heart surgery if possible.
But routine laboratory result showed marked thrombocytopenia to 20,000/㎝.
In the study of thrombocytopenia, bone marrow aspiration and biopsy showed many
so called sea-blue histiocytes, some of them were binucleated or multinucled.
He was treated under the impression of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura with
prednisolone, but thrombocyte count was not corrected.
